The Yamaha GC20A is part of Yamaha's renowned Grand Concert series, a collection of classical guitars developed to bring concert-quality craftsmanship and sound to a wider audience.

The Grand Concert line has its roots in the mid-1960s, when Yamaha invited the Spanish master luthier Eduardo Ferrer to work with their Japanese craftsmen. His collaboration with Yamaha's luthiers helped shape what would become one of the most respected series of factory-built classical guitars.

This particular GC20A was built in 1982. The "A" designation indicates a spruce top ("Abeto" in Spanish), paired with beautiful Brazilian rosewood back and sides, matching Brazilian rosewood headplate and bridge, a mahogany neck, and an ebony fingerboard. Although produced in Yamaha's Taiwan workshop, these instruments were assembled under Japanese supervision and are widely respected for their excellent quality and consistency.

Over the years, the guitar has developed into a wonderfully mature instrument with a warm, balanced voice, rich basses, and excellent projection. It has the clarity and responsiveness expected from a spruce-top concert guitar while offering the depth and sweetness that only decades of playing can bring.
